OCTOBER HAPPENINGS!

OCTOBER HAPPENINGS!

What’s Happening this Weekend?
And a List of 10 October To-Do’s.
By: Stephanie Andrews
Allie putting the final touches on this year’s PRIDE window.
It’s October!  In Atlanta, Halloween decorations abound, and the weather is gorgeous!  We also celebrate Atlanta Pride in October with a huge festival and parade next weekend.  In honor of Pride, we created our October window for the 10th year running.  This year, we focused on creating rainbow houses with cutouts from wallpaper and decoupaged all around these little cardboard cat homes. The theme was “Live with PRIDE!”   Allie (our Project Management Assistant) came up with the idea and did much of the work, and this one may be the cutest window yet!  Let us know your thoughts.
Here in Candler Park, we have the Fall Fest at the park.  I am biased, but this is the best Atlanta festival. It is relatively small, compared to the Inman Park Festival,  but packed with great art, music, and food.
There is a sense of community that is easy-going.  I encourage you to come and take a look.
Rebecca is getting ready for our last Vintage Pop-Up Sale tomorrow from 12-5 pm.
While you are there, be sure to stroll over to our studio on Saturday for our final Vintage Pop-Up of the year.  Rebecca of House 10 Designs has sourced the most incredible art and accessories to add that collected vibe to your home.  We would be happy to help you consider where to place something in your home and discuss the possibilities.  This will take place from 12-5 pm on Saturday, October 4th.
Getting ready for our Annual “Oopsie” Sale. Sunday 12-4 pm.
Then on Sunday, we are having our annual designer sample “oopsies” sale.  This will be held as a yard sale-style event on Sheppard Place with my friend and stylish neighbor, Saffron of Designing with Less. This is an opportunity to acquire something we purchased for a client or for ourselves that didn’t work out due to a blemish, size, style, or even orientation.  These pieces are stunning, but most of all, they are a fraction (75%) off their usual selling price.  We would love to make a deal and not bring items back to our full warehouse.  We will be having this sample sale from 12-4 pm.  Hope to see you there!
#9 from the list below.  Are you ready for a fire pit?
Not a usual blog post, for sure.  Very local.  However, for my friends who don’t live in Atlanta, I’d like to leave you with one idea: consider moving here!  Mostly, just kidding, but it is a great place to live, and I would love to have you closer.  Here is a list of somewhat unexpected things to do in October (because I love lists).
These Mexican blankets are an inexpensive way to stay warm in October when dining outside.
Fall ideas list before the Holiday Madness:
1-Go for a hike.  Leaves are already starting to change!
2. Plant some bulbs for spring; October is recommended. ( I am going to plant some tulips-my favorite!)
3-Keep an eye out for apple cider.  Bonus points if you decide to go apple picking!
4-Ready for chili and pot roast? I love those cozy additions to our menu.
5- Start looking for delicious loose-leaf teas and a small teapot.  Loose-leaf tea is better for you and more sustainable.
6. Maybe it’s time for a cozy sweater addition to your fall wardrobe….
7-Consider adding outdoor lights to your porch and deck. The days are getting shorter, so extra light is inviting.
8- Begin your holiday gift list so that it doesn’t sneak up on you, like it has every single other year in the past…
9-Ready for an outdoor fire pit?  I am!
10. Consider these Mexican throws from Etsy so that each of your guests can be snuggly as you dine al fresco.
As always, thank you for reading, and I hope to see you this weekend!
Stephanie
