My Holiday Strategy

My Holiday Strategy

My Holiday Strategy
by: Stephanie Andrews
Hello friends!

How are you doing?   This time of year is hectic and, frankly, harder than the rest of the year for many people, including myself.  Holiday parties, gifting, decorations, family gatherings, and last-minute projects to get done before the holidays create a frenetic pace that is hard to keep up with!

To help manage the chaos, I wanted to share my personal strategy list for staying centered during this busy time. I also have a fun gift list that I dreamed up and wanted to share with you!
The gift list that you will see in picture form is scattered throughout this post. It is based on shopping for your family and friends by their favorite color.  If you do not know their favorite color, ask them and then see if you can find a special something that fits their personality.  I had fun creating these collages, and each item was available when I assembled them.  If there is something you like, shoot me an email at [email protected], and I will send you the link.
A recent team picture in the park by @WilderStoryHouse.  I am so lucky to work with such incredible humans! (from lower to upper, L-R: Melody, Ed, Marilyn, Stephanie, Andrea, Jennifer, Allie, Marlee and Jean-Luc.)
Strategy 1: Appreciate and love the folks in your life.
Amidst all of the hustle, I need to remember my peeps-family, friends, workmates, and community that all manage to show up for me, time and again.  Shifting my attention to them helps me get out of my head and adjust my unrealistic holiday expectations.
I am reminded of this fact when I think about our Client Appreciation Open House last Thursday.  So many people showed up!  I was overwhelmed with gratitude to see the turnout and speak with so many people who mean the world to me.  If you were able to attend, thank you!  I am so grateful for your support.
Starting with my favorite color!  From left to right, bottom to top: monogrammed tray for collectibles, soy candle, cashmere sweater, Converse high tops, Italian leather bag, rechargeable desk lamp, antique earrings, pocket notebook, and dandelion scarf.
Strategy 2: Pace Yourself.
If you were unable to make it, that’s okay, you were right where you needed to be.  We need to give ourselves a priority list for the season, mainly focusing on things that bring us joy and support our lives.  We also need to rest and recuperate between these events, so that we feel some peace.
During this time of year, it is even more important to take time for myself to focus on my morning and nightly routine.  Morning coffee, reading, writing, meditation, and nightly tea, cozy PJs, and chilling out with my hubby make me a more balanced human being.  These daily recharges are essential.
For the blue lovers, a velvet loveseat, bandana, boat-neck sweater, Etsy necklace, Navy peacoat, rice bowls,  French tote bag, and blue suede shoes.
Strategy 3: Focus on Health.
At this time of year, everyone seems to come down with something!  To stay healthy, I am still working out in the mornings (despite the cold), taking my vitamins, and drinking lots of water.  I am also encouraging my team to work from home when they are beginning to feel yucky.  Sure, sickness may still find me, but I am paying more attention.
Red Hot: leather gloves, chunky throw, French tote, teapot, Etsy heart T-shirt, silk patterned blouse, modern desk chair, and dangly earrings.
Strategy 4: Schedule Fun.
After all, it’s “the most wonderful time of the year”!
It is easy to pursue perfection in all things and forget to have fun.  My fun?  Riding through the neighborhoods of Atlanta, and looking at the lights and decorations at night, the Botanical Garden lights, game nights with friends, and dinner with family are just a few events that are glorious when I slow down enough to enjoy them.
Just because I am busy does not mean that I cannot enjoy myself!
Happy Yellow: rechargeable desk light, eco-friendly duck umbrella, leather trench, outdoor chair, cozy socks, Mont Blanc pen, scalloped stationery, heart baseball cap, bento lunch box, and happy face pillow.
So what is your favorite color?  Get yourself a little gift in that color and enjoy expressing your individuality.  I hope that you have a very Happy Holiday! And if you see Allie, say “Congratulations!” She is graduating from college next week.  Enjoy and take care of yourself.
Until next week,
Stephanie
