14 Mar Green and Greener.
Hello Friends!
I will start off with a quote by Tae Yun Kim that sums up my feelings for the color green.
“Green strongly influences the heart and helps alleviate tension. Positive qualities associated with green are generosity, humility, and cooperation.”
For as long as I can remember, green has been my favorite color. I will flirt with other colors- blush, midnight blue, saffron, and especially black. However, the color green has my heart. Green makes me feel comfortable and peaceful.

We had so much fun at a vintage and antique rug dealer this week!
Green is also having a revival zeitgeist in the design community. Cars, kitchen cabinetry, wallpaper, tiles, sofas, and clothes are all sporting green. Green has many shades- from a sagey green to an olive to a celery and millions more. Just looking outside shows us how many greens exist.

My favorite sustainable cashmere sweater brand makes bedding too!
This week, I wanted to share some items that are green & greener. Meaning that they are green in color and the environment has been taken in consideration when making these products. I thought that I would also give you my favorite green paint colors, in case you are feeling the need for green in your home.

A Sustainable Brand that makes Washable Rugs!
Over the years, I have met several clients and potential clients who just do not appreciate green. That’s okay; this article may not be for them. Let’s continue for those of you who love green as much as I do!

Favorite shades of Green:
There are 3 colors that I love to use: a light, medium, and dark shade of green. The lightest is Sherwin Williams Acacia Haze. One of my favorite clients introduced me to this color about 3 years ago. My world is now filled with versions of this color. My car, our studio, and my upstairs bath are about to be painted this color. Will I tire of this color? I seriously doubt it, but that is fodder for another article.
Farrow and Ball Green Smoke: This medium shade green is filled with gray, and flows easily in a home. Most recently I used this color in a mountain house powder room. It simply looked like the beautiful outdoors in Cashiers, North Carolina.
Farrow and Ball Studio Green: Almost black, yet the green is still the base of this dramatic color. We used this about 7 years ago in a library, and it still looks timeless and warm.

I would love to replace my pottery with East Fork Pottery. Handmade in Asheville, NC.
Kitchen Goals!
Now the challenging part of this post was finding items that are green in color and are more environmentally friendly. The sites in the photos that I have shared have some wonderful stories of sustainability. For example, the Silo birdfeeder from Goodieworld.com that is made from 100% recycled post consumer waste plastic and even the coloring process uses a water-free dye. I loved the Quince bedding, which was made in India by a 3rd generation weaver that provides housing and education for their employees. My love for East Fork Pottery has given me new kitchen goals to replace some manufactured pieces with some beautiful handmade pieces.
As we head into spring and we finally get to enjoy the outdoors, I hope that you appreciate the green all around us!
Until next week,
Stephanie
