18 Dec BD Secret Santa
What do designers give each other for the holidays? We challenged our designers this year to pick their perfect present for their Secret Santa at our Holiday Party last week. The goal was to find a gift for a fellow team member under $50 that reflected the receivers personality and interests.
Here are their special gifts and their thoughts behind them.
Japanese Mountain Sun Travel Tea Set by Umi Tea Sets
Marlee gift to Stephanie:
I was looking for a gift that combined Stephanie’s love for Japan and comfy things (like warm socks or clothes with deep pockets), and this Japanese Mountain Tea Set checked off both boxes. The set would look great on display with its mountain and sun motif and it also comes in a compact travel case so it’s perfect for the avid tea lover on the go!
Handmade Throw Blanket by himalayanart .
Stephanie gift to Andrea:
Andrea designed our new look for the studio this fall. She used rich red, olive, eggplant and goldenrod. Her art that is in the studio also shared these colors. I wanted to find something that felt like Andrea, and then I found this beautiful throw from Nepal. Handmade by women out of Yak’s wool, this gift made me happy. Hopefully, Andrea will stay warm and enjoy it too!
Jennifer’s gift to Melody:
In the past, Melody and I have enjoyed spending time in the local downtown shops of Chamblee, GA in between design installations. When I drew Melody’s name, I knew I wanted to start my search there for her gift this year. At a beautiful Japanese inspired handicraft shop, Wanderstate Mercantile, I was drawn to a beautiful handmade ceramic wind chime that I thought would be perfect for Melody’s new home or backyard. It came as a DIY Kit from Pigeon Toe Ceramics, which I thought Melody might enjoy putting together, tailoring the design and sound to her liking. The end result is a home decor object that is simple, yet elegant, and sure to bring a bit of peace and harmony to any space she chooses to use it in.
Melody’s Gift to Jennifer:
My Secret Santa gift was for Jennifer. Unfortunately, I was out sick the day the team drew names so with my limited time, I relied on amazon for my gifts. I knew Jennifer loved bird watching, particularly hummingbirds, and that it provides her a sense of peace and calm- which is always good during the holiday season. I found a small hummingbird jewelry dish, a spa scented candle, and some cozy (and fun) socks to help her relax and rejuvenate.
Andrea’s gift to Marlee:
This year, I was lucky enough to draw Marlee’s name, and I couldn’t wait to pick something that would both delight her and be super practical. Marlee is one of those people who has a true passion for cooking and baking. So, naturally, I wanted to find a gift that would enhance her time in the kitchen, a cute, stylish one that would make her look even more adorable while she’s baking up a storm. But I didn’t stop there. I also found a set of matching scalloped cocktail napkins that were too cute to pass up. They have a delicate, refined look to them, but the best part? The napkins are monogrammed with the letter “M”.That “M” could stand for Marlee, of course, but it’s also the perfect little touch to honor her upcoming wedding. Congrats future Mrs. Marasciulo, and all the delicious things she’ll create in her kitchen while looking cute doing it!
Allie’s gift to Marilyn:
I was very excited to pull Marilyn’s name and I knew immediately I wanted to her something travel related. She has gotten the travel bug this year and after her recent trip to Seattle her SO she came home with multiple trips planned. She borrowed my carry on for her trip because it is the perfect size for a weekend trip. For her gift I decided to get her a nice carry on suitcase in one of her favorite colors. The one I picked has a bunch of storage inside because she is the most organized person I know…and I was able to score it on Cyber Monday for just under $50!
Marylin’s gift for Allie:
My secret Santa was Allie, I gifted her with an at home spa kit along with some fun temporary tattoos to remind her to put self care first in her busy life. As school wraps up and she moves apartments may she find time to rest and restore during Christmas break. The tattoos are a bit of an inside joke because I’m not sure she will ever commit one…ahaha
This holiday, we hope that you have a beautiful holiday season with your family, friends, neighbors and your co-workers. We are very blessed to have people that we love to work with both in our studio and with our clients. We appreciate your support this year and we look forward to an innovative and meaningful New Year. Thank you,
Stephanie and The BD Team
