SNEAK PEEK: Balance Design Open House

By: Danielle Cornely

We’re excited to announce our spring open house at Balance Design! We are featuring two incredible artists and a new collection of beautiful furniture and accessories, but that’s not all. It’s also the one year anniversary of our brick and mortar studio!

pinkfabric

Powerful. Organic. Elemental. Get up close and personal with the photography of Britney Kidd at our open house.

Asymmetry can be perfection, and minerals like copper definitely influenced our new look.

pillowsrug

Water-like waves, pops of color, and an award-winning rug will all be on display.

lamp

More than a little fierce, but made of natural materials. A statement to the power of the natural world.

Statement Lighting We Love.

By: The Balance Design Team

We’re all in favor of a classic, timeless light fixture most of the time. But sometimes you really want to make a statement! We’re here to help with that.

curreycofen

Completely original and absolutely breathtaking. We can’t get over the Fen chandelier from Currey and Company, with its branch-like frame, delicate chains, and dewdrop inspired crystals.

tomdixonmelt

Like some sort of gorgeous floating molten copper orb, the Melt Mini pendant by Tom Dixon is as beautiful on as it is off.

aparatushorsehair

Have you ever seen anything like this Horsehair sconce from Apparatus Studios? The answer is no, you haven’t, but you’re completely blown away by it (just like us).

curreycomedusa

What’s the best thing about the Medusa pendant from Currey and Company? The heavily detailed dome? The delicate tendrils? The fact that it comes in three sizes? It’s hard to choose!

arteriorspayne

Rough edges, smooth waves. The Payne chandelier from Arteriors is hand-cut with hand-applied gold leaf, so each one is one-of-a-kind.

Sometimes a simple drum pendant just won’t do. Don’t be afraid to be bold with your lighting choices. There are plenty of stop-you-in-your-tracks pieces out there — take the plunge!

Design Classics to be Thankful For.

By: Stephanie Andrews

With tomorrow being Thanksgiving, it only seems appropriate to share some tried and true design classics that we are thankful for.

arteriorsmirror1

A round mirror, like this Expedition Mirror from Arteriors, makes a statement of simple beauty whether in a pair or grouped with other shapes.

hanswegnerchairs4

The wishbone chair is one of our absolute favorites. This Hans Wegner piece instantly adds style to a dining room in a set or alone as an accent chair.

privatecloudbed2

We are dying to use this Private Cloud bed in one of our designs. Wouldn’t you love to see it in our portfolio?

chesterfield1

A classic Chesterfield sofa in rich leather or plush velvet is the epitome of style.

hanswegnerchairs3

We love Hans Wegner! His designs are stunning. This lounge chair can pull together any room.

cirquechandelier

The concentric circles and metallic finish of the Double Cirque Chandelier can lift a breakfast nook to new heights.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Design Pulp! We are most thankful for our families, friends, clients, vendors, and readers for supporting us in all we do. Thank you!

With autumn approaching, we are starting to enjoy a slight chill in the air. It’s the time of year when you want to cozy up with a cup of tea, a good book, or somebody special. Nothing commands some serious snuggling like a warm, welcoming fireplace. Is it time to give yours a face lift? Here are some ideas to give you some inspiration:

Fashion Your Home: Fall 2014 Edition

By: Danielle Cornely

Imposing silhouettes, trendsetting details, and crave-worthy colors — the aftermath of fashion week can leave you yearning for a complete wardrobe makeover. We say, why not your home too?

mendelfredrichs

This look from J. Mendel is a little feminine, a little edgy. Meet its furniture counterpart: a graffiti sofa by Alexandra Fredrichs. The sweetness of the simple, curved lines against the brash, graffiti print upholstery creates a statement piece for the bravest and boldest.

erdemsurya

Canadian born Erdem is looking at botanical prints in an elegant new way. The designer’s ready-to-wear collection features delicate yet striking plant silhouettes. Take a page out of his book by ditching trendy floral prints and opting for items that have sophisticated leaves and stems with a hint of metallic glamour, like this Surya rug.

blondsarteriors

Sometimes fashion can get a little too serious. Not so with Phillipe and David Blond, aka The Blonds. Consider them your go-to guys for fun, funky, rockin’ glam. Do you love the spherical hairdo and gold motorcycle jacket/bodysuit as much as we do? This Arteriors light is just the thing to bring that over-the-top awesomeness to your home.

oscaranthro

Oscar de la Renta’s new collection showcases rich colors, classy textures, and flapper-inspired fringe. Have fun with this concept! These Anthropologie curtains have tiers of deep blue pom-poms for a playful take on a formal look.

donnacrate

Donna Karen throws caution to the wind with her creative collection, favoring free form, organic shapes over rigid patterns. Showcase your own appreciation of abstract painting with pillows like these from Crate and Barrel.
