Balance Design’s Holiday Wish List

Every year, Balance Design puts together a holiday wish list which may range from a coveted piece of art to handmade wooden spoons. This year we put together a list that we think would be lovely additions to our homes. We have items that show various styles and price points, some items are aspirational, some items have actually been purchased, and some may end up under the tree!. Hope you enjoy a peek into our team’s design styles

Stephanie’s Pick:

A Pair of Wooden Chairs

The Oscar chairs from Room and Board are sculpturally simple (inspired by George Nakashima) and handmade in Vermont. They are a beautiful choice for our Candler Park living room. These chairs are forever pieces that can easily move around when I get the urge for rearranging.

Italian Inspired Espresso Machine

There is nothing better in the morning than a good cup of coffee, unless it’s a beautiful latte. The one item I require in the morning to set the tone for the day is either, but to be truthful I prefer the latter. If I were to have my ultimate wish I would adore the Elektra MicroCasa Semi Automatica in my kitchen, it is an appliance that I would NOT mind looking at every day as I have my morning cappuccino. The brass and copper really set this machine apart from your ordinary stainless steel appliances, and as a designer I can appreciate how it will patina over time. I am even luckier that my husband has previous barista experience.

Cozy Bed Linens

A well-dressed, cozy bed to crawl into at night (or any time of day really) is just about the most desirable present I can think of this time of year. The simple embroidery and elegant tassel details of this soft, eco friendly cotton duvet and sham set would definitely fit the bill for me in creating the perfect bedroom backdrop to come home to. Layer in a crisp white sheet set, down comforter and then my favorite fur throw- sounds like the ultimate restorative experience to me!

Melody’s Pick

Modern Firepit

This fall in Atlanta has been nearly nonexistent (we’ve dropped 40 degrees in less than 24 hours, more than once!) and due to the colder than normal temperatures, I haven’t been able to spend the evenings outside like I would have wanted. That’s why this fire pit is the ultimate item on my wish list. The use of fire glass gives a magical aesthetic, while having the added benefit of using natural gas instead of burning wood, so it burns at a higher temperature ensuring that we stay warm on these chilly holiday nights!

Whimsical Wall Art

Growing up as a crafty kid, I used to spend the holidays with my Grandma and we would create pillow from latch hook sets. This holiday season, I’ve fallen completely in love with these Justina Blakeney hand-woven animal wall hangings, reminiscent of my childhood hobby. Animal prints, bright colors and mixed patterns speak to my soul and these fun faces are the perfect addition to my home. Not only do I appreciate the hand work required to make them, but they bring me nostalgic memories (especially this time of year) and a smile.

We hope that you have an enjoyable holiday season: full of joy, love and unique design!
